Informazioni

The Valle di Cogne is shaped like a quadrilateral which has its vertexes:Pont d'Ael on the floor of the peak of Gran Paradiso (m 4061), Bec Costazza (m 3092) at the end of the deep valley of Urtier, and the peak Rossa (m 3041) south of Monte Emilius. It measures approximately 28 Km length (from Pont d'Ael to Bec Costanzza) and 20 km width (from the Gran Paradiso to the Tersiva peak) The Valle is oriented from est to east, hence it is very sunny and protected from cold north winds. It is surrounded by a chain of high peaks with heights from 3 thousand to 4 thousand metres, offering the mountaineer a most interesting choice of climbs. The basin of Cogne contains an important heritage of minerals, woodland, fauna and flora. Because of its fortunate shape it offers the tourist an innumerable variety of walks and hikes. At the main starting point of the walks, signposts with indicating arrows have been erected, showing the main directions. At the beginning and at junctions each walk is indicated with a yellow circle on the rocks or on the walls with the path's number in black; continuing on, yellow line indicates the correct direction of the path. Some routes in the Parco Nazionale del Gran Paradiso are also indicated characteristics adopted by the Alpine Clubs of the various nations.
